Winter Sports

Located at the mountain base of Serra da Estrela, Quinta do Crestelo is a very good starting point for your ski-holiday plan. At the Torre there are five ski-lanes and in Manteigas an artificial snow-lane is open all year round.

Riverside Beaches

You can row or swim in the several lagoons and dams in the region as well as kayaking in the crystalline river waters or hydrologic course.

Through Sandomil, the river Alva flows, where you can row pedal boats, among others. There are also several pleasant places where you can have a picnic that are worth being visited:

the roman bridge, harmonious with its surroundings, mainly with the river;
the Fonte da Moura fountain; Corredora;
the water-mill’s river banks;
the water-mills and leisure boats.

Riverside beaches At Senhora do Desterro, 5 km (3, 11 miles) away from Seia, you can visit the River Alva with its fluvial beach, small dam, eight chapels and a strange rock with the shape of an old woman. This place is historically very important for Portugal, because the first hydro-electric power-plant of Portugal was built here.

Walking Path

There are a lot of pedestrian paths in Serra da Estrela, organized and signalized by PNSE, National Park of Serra da Estrela, or you can participate in pedestrian walks organized by CISE, the Interpretation Centre of Serra da Estrela (For more information).
