At the Quinta do Crestelo we offer two outdoor swimming pools and one heated indoor swimming pool.

Vegetable garden

In The Quinta do Crestelo there is a vegetable garden, which is located next to the stable, the poultry and the kennel for the pets, where we plant our vegetables.

In the year 2005, we planted pumpkins, leek, cabbage, peppers, tomatoes, malaguetta, cucumbers, potatoes, and maize which were carefully harvested and plucked to be served in our restaurant or used to feed the animals.

Before sowing, we use organic manure from the farm animals, in the spring, and we dig the ground, prepare the flower beds, where we plant our vegetables. The rest of the farm is ploughed and grass is planted to be used as pasture ground for the animals.

A Path to discover nature

You can start next to the Quinta, turn left, through the parking lot. Making only a small detour to your left you will be able to see the stables and the kennel.

Back on the path along the margin of the river you will find a covered passageway of riparian vegetation, on your right.

By the hulk that crosses the brook you can admire the mosaic work allusive to the traditional farming and local vine-culture. By taking the path on your right you will get to a pine-wood area. Climbing the pine-wood hill you have the most magnificent view of the valley and its geology which passes from granite to schist. In the meantime unnoticed the vegetation has also changed its features, passing from the pine-wood to oak-grove. From here on the world around you and the landscape appear as mystical surroundings. It is here where the oak rules, it is also from here that you have a spectacular view of the bushes replete with plough tails, hawthorns, furze, genista, French lavender and butcher’s broom. Following the path, leaving this mystic landscape behind, by the next turn you will be once more able to view the Quinta and the river.

Quinta do Crestelo, which was build where an old castle was formerly, is located up in the Serra da Estrela, two kilometres ( 1,24 miles) from the nearest city, Seia. Quinta do Crestelo is a magnificent architectonic place surrounded by 17 ha ( 42,01 acres) green spaces.

In the area where Quinta do Crestelo is located and the area around it are predominantly farmlands, pine-wood and oak-grove areas.

Three small creeks stream in this area, which allows a big number of small plants and vegetation to grow along its shores.

Most of the farmlands that existed before the construction of this complex are nowadays mostly pasture grounds, for our animals, oak and pine areas and French lavender fields, where the its sweet aroma takes us to long past times.

Surrounded by such beauty, the characteristic vegetation, the mystic landscapes and farm animals, one almost forgets the neighbouring city.

Quinta do Crestelo gives a great importance to the preservation of its green and natural spaces. We organize walks in the Parque Natural da Serra da Estrela ( Serra da Estrela’s National Park), we also organize walks in the area surrounding the Quinta do Crestelo where you can find many natural and mystic landscapes.
